The Last Word
There was a magic feeling to this story even though it seemed unbelievable that someone would make a living writing suicide notes. I started with a more traditional palette for this film to give us the depth and gravity to meet the story, and colored it with arrhythmic percussion, dulcimers and mandolin to give the music a feeling of intimacy, as well as keeping it unpredictable. Geoffrey is a cellist as well as a director and was a great collaborator on this.
