Balls Out: Gary the Tennis Coach
I was excited to work with director Danny Leiner again after working on The Great New Wonderful. This script was great fun to read and the movie made me double over in several places when I finally got to see a rough cut. There were a lot of guitars in this film, as well as acoustic bass guitar doubled with my Hofner Beatle bass to get a punchy goofy bass sound that kept everything fun. The sports music in the last reel at the state finals had support from an orchestra to add importance and strength, but was also largely driven by guitars. There were a few places for trumpet as a relief character in the film that worked very well too.
